Donations

The Waban Library Center is a private, not-for-profit organization in partnership with the City of Newton that provides all of its services at no cost to patrons. As a private organization, the WLC receives no funding from either Newton or Massachusetts.

The Waban Library was forced to close in 2008 due to lack of finances.  A historic institution, the library had enriched the Waban community for nearly eighty years.  The reopening of the library as the Waban Library Center has enabled us to continue on in the tradition of our founders and to provide our patrons with a place for cultural, intellectual, physical, and social enhancement.

The Waban Library Center was able to reopen as a result of the donations of Waban residents and merchants.  We at the WLC are immensely grateful and fortunate for their help.  Still, financial support from patrons is necessary to ensure that this historic gem never has to close its doors again.

Your contributions are greatly appreciated.  Please give whatever you can!  Contact wabanlibrary@gmail.com with any questions.
