One way to become a part of the Waban Library Center is through volunteering! Situated near the Waban T stop on the Green Line, the WLC is easily accessible. We are currently looking for energetic volunteers with a passion for libraries and community enrichment. The WLC supplies an opportunity to work in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere alongside a fantastic group of volunteers and instructors.
Volunteers are able to choose from a wide range of hours (including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends). We only ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of two consecutive hours per week.
The tasks available to volunteers at the WLC are flexible and varied. Some of these tasks are:
* Providing basic librarian services (i.e., assisting patrons in locating books, checking out materials, processing returns, entering new books, shelving books).
* Providing administrative support (i.e., answering the telephone, opening mail, filing, facilitating course registration).
* Serving as an ambassador of the WLC (i.e., welcoming visitors, soliciting input and ideas).
If interested, please contact the Waban Library Center at wabanlibrary@gmail.com or Alice Jacobs at (617)-244-1362.
We look forward to hearing from you!
